GPALOVEMATH Online Math Program from GPA LEARN Review

All three of our children each have their own struggles with math. I had a hard time with it as well while in school and so I can totally feel their pain. We were given the opportunity to review GPALOVEMATH and I couldn’t sign up fast enough! GPALOVEMATH is a neat online math program for children in grades K – 5 from GPA LEARN. Three components make up GPALOVEMATH: Learn, Engage and Motivate. The curriculum meets and exceeds Common Core State Standards in Mathematics (CCSSM).

The “Learning Coaches” of GPALOVE MATH are animated characters that guide the children through their math lessons.  Each grade consists of over 150 lessons and over 10,000 practice questions. Children can do as little as 4 – 5 lessons a week to complete an entire grade in 10 months. L9 worked on this and we did at least one lesson a day Monday through Friday.

There are three sections to a lesson. Each lesson begins with Introduction/Instruction while the Learning Coach explains what the child will be learning. They will then teach the skills along with answering some sample problems. Next is the Practice section. This is where the child will try their hand at answering the problems themselves.  If they get it wrong, the Learning Coach will give review hints as to what the correct answer is so the child can answer again. There are three Lifelines to use in case they get stuck though to help them not get frustrated. The last section is the Quiz. Here, the child has a set of questions to answer without the Learning Coach helping them. Depending on their score at the end will determine if they can move onto the next lesson.

Parents have a Dashboard to keep track of lessons and scores. You can even Test Drive a lesson before the child does so you have an idea of what it is about. I have also noticed that the children can access their lessons through the Parent’s Dashboard. This makes it much easier than needing to remember a login for each child. When clicking Test Drive on a lesson, there is an option to Switch User to the child. Each day that we are working on GPALOVEMATH, I just sign into my Dashboard to see where we are and start L9’s lessons through there.

As an added incentive, children can have a list of rewards for finishing a number of lessons set by the parent! Parents can choose which rewards and even make up their own OR they can have the program auto-choose the rewards. The number of rewards chosen will adjust to how many lessons should be completed before earning them.

Some examples of rewards include:

  • Child chooses what is for dinnerGPALOVEMATH certificate
  • Build an indoor fort for the day
  • Parent will do one chore for you
  • Pizza party with friends/family
  • Additional 30 minutes (or more) of TV time
  • Stay up 30 minutes (or more) later at bedtime
  • Treasure Box
  • Monetary rewards
  • Cuddle and tickle time
  • Bake/cook with parent
  • Customize your own
  • AND SO MANY MORE!

Parents receive a daily lesson report email as well as a weekly report. I love these since it’s easy to see where they are having problems at. Since they cannot continue to the next lesson unless they pass the previous one, it makes it much easier to see what they are having trouble with so I can sit with him to go through the lesson again.

L9 loves to do math now! He is so proud of himself while racking up the points. Seeing the points add up are great “I can do this!” moments! He does wish that there were games besides the rewards to help motivate him though. I recommend GPALOVEMATH to anyone teaching math to their K – 5th graders! We even started using this with M8 this week!

Where To Buy

GPALOVEMATH is available at GPA LEARN for $149 per year for access to all six grades. Using the code GPAINTRO15 will save you 15% for a price of $129! I could’ve used this for my older kiddos. I am a math nut and they struggle with it. (Imagine what that does to this momma!)
