Try the World has sent us another awesome box to review and this one is from Portugal! We were also able to check out their new Snack Box, containing 5 snacks from 5 different countries!
Wouldn’t you like to try gourmet food from a different country right from the comfort of your own home? Yes, I know it would be amazing to be able to actually be IN the country while eating it but most of us don’t have the luxury of doing so. Try the World has made it possible for us to do this! Featuring 7 – 8 gourmet, international products from all around the world (one country featured in a box), curated by their chefs and sent to you at your choice of every month or 2 months. This is our 4th box from them and we were also able to try out the new Snack Box they offer now.
The products included are produced by Artisans; small, family-owned companies who follow artisanal methods of production. This means that your box will be full of hard-to-find items in the US that are loved by the locals! If you fall in love with any of the items included, you can always order it from the Try the World online shop.
Try the World – Portugal
Included in our Try the World box were eight products:
- Culture Guide – This outlines each product and their common uses, plus Chef George Mendes’s recommended ways to use them (recipes!).
- Paladin: Piri Piri Hot Sauce
- Briosa Gourmet: Codfish in Olive Oil
- Casa Lucena: Traditional Cookies (butter cookies)
- RARE by Quinta de Jugais: Pumpkin and Hazelnut Jam
- Casa da Prisca: Caramelized Onions with Port Wine
- Olivais do Sul: Extra-Virgin Olive Oil
- Frutaformas: Crunchy Apple Rings
- Hands on Earth: Sea Salt and Lemon
You also receive a link to a curated Spotify playlist of music from each country to play while cooking and eating for an immersive experience, as well as an online magazine for more recipes, Behind the Box, and more. I am actually listening to the playlist while writing this post!
We have never been disappointed with a Try the World box and this month’s Portugal box was no different. I love that I am able to use them as a Geography lesson and so much more with the kids. Plus, since we are all foodies here, it’s a great way to experience new foods we wouldn’t normally have a way to try!
Snack Box by Try the World
The Snack Box is a new addition to Try the World. Instead of a box featuring one country, Snack Box features 5 different countries with a gourmet treat from each one every month!
Our Snack Box contained:
- Info card – details each treat and the origin of them
- French Truffles by Truffettes de France (Canada)
- Dried Blueberries by Biokia (Finland)
- Gingersnaps by Nyakers (Sweden)
- Orange Peel Biscuits Cookies by Orientines (Morocco)
- Thai Spicy Flavor Rice Crackers by Siammit (Thailand)
The Snack Box is a less expensive way to try out treats from all over the world. It was hard to pick a favorite out of these amazing treats but I have to say that the Apple Crisps were the first ones gone, within a few minutes!
The part that I really enjoy is the fact that you can order a product on their online store if you really enjoyed it! The teen and I became obsessed with the Umami Ponzu Sauce in our Japan box and the Matcha Blueberry Tea Powder. Now we can order them anytime we want to enjoy them again!
