Unwanted Creatures

Most people have a clear mental line of demarcation between where bugs and rodents are allowed to reside. When you see these uninvited creatures inside your home, you know what to do to find an exterminator – you need to search for “pest control near me” to find a qualified professional to mitigate your problem before it gets worse.

The waters are a little muddier when the pests are outside your home. After all, they are in nature and not inside your house. That being said, you want to be proactive to prevent them from ever crossing the threshold or creeping through an open gap in the siding or window screen.

If you see an influx of bugs or pests around your home, it is best to contact a pest control company right away to stop any further problems before they have a chance to take hold – making it that much more difficult to remove. Look for ant trails on the ground around the home or the sides of the house. Assess the area for rodent droppings congregating near any buildings or vehicles. Remember to look up as bees like to nest in rafters and under eaves.

Water Leaks

Water leaks can begin as minor dripping noises coming from a water faucet. The sound can prove annoying enough to keep you up at night. That sound should also spur you into action to fix the offending problem. When dripping faucets are left for prolonged periods, the stress on the part that is allowing water to leak through may eventually fail. That action will allow more water to flow freely from the faucet and result in water damage or even flooding, depending on the amount of water released.

Additionally, if your monthly water bill has inexplicably increased, thoroughly inspect your home right away to determine if you have a visible water leak. If you find the problem, take action to shut it off and call a plumber if needed. If you cannot find the cause of your water leak or increased water usage, call your city utility company to see if they can lend any insight. After that, contact a plumber to help find the root cause before it gets worse and causes water damage or mold.

It is important to note that water leaks and damp environments can attract bugs into your home, meaning you will now have two problems to remedy instead of one.
