We love corn on the cob around here. There’s just something about that buttery, sweet crunch that makes any meal feel like a summer celebration. But as much as we adore it, I’ll admit — we rarely made it ourselves. Most of the time, I’d cheat a little and buy the pre-shucked, pre-cut pieces from the store. (Hey, no judgment — sometimes convenience wins!)
That is, until I discovered the absolute easiest way to shuck corn… and now I’m never going back.

How It All Started
The other day, my husband picked up some fresh corn on the cob to go with our grilled burgers. When I opened the bag, surprise! It was the kind still wrapped up in its husk — silk and all. I had never actually shucked corn before (seriously, never!), so I had no clue what to do.
Naturally, I turned to my old reliable friend: Google. And that’s when I stumbled across the best, fastest, and most genius method for shucking corn. The secret? The microwave.
Ken, the brilliant mind behind this trick, made a video showing exactly how it’s done. He makes it look so easy!
Here’s How to Shuck Corn the Easy Way:
- Place one ear of corn (husk and all!) in the microwave.
- Microwave for 4 minutes. (If you’re doing two ears, microwave for about 8 minutes total.)
- Carefully remove the hot corn from the microwave. (Tip: Wear oven gloves — the corn gets really hot.)
- Cut off the end of the corn — the side without the silky tassels.
- Grab the top (the silk end) and give it a good shake.
- Watch as the corn slides right out, completely clean — no silk strings left behind!
Why This Hack is a Game-Changer:
- No mess — no peeling off layer after layer of husk and fighting with stubborn silks.
- Super quick — saves tons of time, especially if you’re making a big batch.
- Kid-friendly — even my 9- and 11-year-olds had fun helping with this method (with a little supervision, of course!).
Plus, it’s fun seeing the corn pop right out so perfectly — it almost feels like magic.
Once you have your corn shucked, you can easily move on to making my Best Boiled Corn on the Cob EVER — it’s a match made in summer heaven!
