Today I am sharing about a brand-new series that just launched on Angel: A Week Away: The Series!

If the name sounds familiar, you may remember the hit faith-filled musical film A Week Away. The series continues the story from the original film, offering a new chapter of faith-filled adventures, memorable characters, and inspiring messages.

About A Week Away: The Series

This musical series follows a group of teens as they spend their summer at Camp Aweegaway – a Christian camp filled with adventure, friendships, and unexpected self-discovery. At its heart, it’s a story about identity, trust, and the courage to face what’s within.

The story centers on Will Hawkins, a defiant foster teen who winds up at church camp instead of juvenile detention. Determined to resist what he sees as empty promises of faith, he starts out with his guard up. But rejection slowly turns into reflection, and the walls he’s built begin to crack. As Will realizes he’s not alone in his struggles with grief, anger, and belonging, he learns that healing can’t be forced – it must be chosen.

Along the way, music and dance light the path. With songs from the writer and producer of Camp Rock and High School Musical, this show is filled with infectious beats and choreography that will have you singing and dancing along. But what really makes it stand apart is the substance beneath the fun: inspiring and redemptive themes, the healing power of friends and family, and honest reflections on the struggles teens and adults face when asking questions of faith, purpose, and belonging.

The cast adds plenty of charm and energy, with familiar faces like David Koechner (Anchorman, The Office) and Leigh-Allyn Baker (Good Luck Charlie), alongside a talented young ensemble that makes camp life vibrant and fun.

Some have described the show as “Christian High School Musical,” or “Camp Rock with a faith message,” even “Disney Channel meets Bible camp.” However you frame it, it’s fun, family-friendly, and uplifting – honoring faith-based principles without ever feeling like a lecture.

My Thoughts on the Series

I had the chance to preview episodes, and what struck me most was how authentic the characters feel. Will’s personal struggle to reconcile faith with his traumatic past is raw, relatable, and powerful. The series doesn’t shy away from tough questions but instead offers a tender space to explore them.

The target audience skews young adults, but it truly has something for all ages. It’s thematically geared toward teens, yet the humor is laugh-out-loud funny for adults, and the upbeat music is irresistible to kids. These songs will not only move you spiritually but also get you on your feet – and maybe even bring a few tears along the way.

For me, the combination of high-quality music and choreography, heartfelt performances, and genuine messages of hope made this a standout. It had all the fun we loved from Camp Rock and High School Musical, but with something deeper – a reminder that redemption is a choice, love heals, and God’s presence can be found in the family we build along the way.
