Navigating Life 🎮 One Nerdy Adventure at a Time

October in Florida always brings that almost-fall feeling – the sunlight still warms the air, but there’s finally a hint of cooler evenings that make sitting outside a little more enjoyable. Life feels busy but balanced right now, and I thought it’d be fun to share a little snapshot of what I’m currently up to this month.

I’m deep into Parasite (Parasitology #1) by Mira Grant. It’s the perfect mix of creepy science and sharp storytelling for spooky season. I love when a story makes you think and squirm just a little.

My husband recently discovered Sneaky Pete, so I’ve been watching it here and there while working on my laptop. It’s suspenseful enough to keep me interested but not so intense that I can’t multitask.

I’ve been creating new Sims 4 challenges for myself lately. I can’t seem to stop coming up with new ones. On top of that, I jumped back into Fallout 76 for the Halloween event. Wandering through Appalachia during the spooky season feels just right.

Sweet + salty is the combo of the moment. Trail mix, chocolate-dipped pretzels, maybe some popcorn with caramel + sea salt – give me all of it.

Nothing fancy, just water, lots and lots of water. Hydration station. Sometimes I’ll have a cup of decaf iced tea with dinner. I have to avoid caffeine or my anxiety goes sky-high.

We’re planning a little backyard Halloween party for the nieces and nephews! The plan is to set up trick-or-treat areas around the yard, complete with a mini graveyard and spooky decorations. It’ll be such a fun evening for the kids, and honestly, I’m just as excited as they are.

Even in Florida, the shift is starting. The days are still warm, but the evenings have cooled off just enough to feel pleasant, almost fall-like. It’s not quite sweater weather, but we’re getting close, and I’ll take every degree of “cooler” I can get.

Cleaning off my desk. It’s a disaster zone right now, and I can’t seem to make myself deal with it. I know I’d feel so much better once it’s clean, yet here I am, typing about it instead.

The slightly cooler weather that finally makes it enjoyable to sit out back under the gazebo, family who make even the busiest days better, and Zero Odor Multi-Purpose Odor Eliminator because with the litter box in our room, that stuff has been a lifesaver.

I love doing these kinds of posts because they capture the small, everyday things that make life feel full – the routines, the favorites, the little projects in between.

What about you? What are you currently reading, watching, or craving this month? Share yours in the comments. I’d love to hear!

I used to play Sims all the time. I should play again. I always had the best time.

  3. Parasite sounds like a great read and a book that I would certainly enjoy. It’s also perfect for the season. I’m trying to avoid to much sweet stuff at the moment but will have it through fruit.
