Body Detox: Healthy Recipes You’ll Enjoy

Detox is something a body needs after a holiday, stressful period or simply once in a while, for good measure.

Over time, the body gets tired of pollutants in the air and strain it endures. Long hours at work and not enough sleep can take its toll on the whole system and soon you will feel more tired than usual. Rest is the one way to start your detox, but if you don’t compensate the missing nutrients, it’s useless.

Contrary to popular belief, you don’t have to starve in order to do this. There are a lot of healthy solutions which will keep you sated and refreshed in no time. So here are some recipes that you will certainly enjoy while on a body detox.

1. Detox salads

Rainbow salad is a salad that will keep you sated and feeling great since it’s full of vegetables known to have vitamins in abundance. The interesting twist about this salad is the roasted squash, while everything else is fresh and cut into bite pieces. Besides the broccoli and mixed greens, you can add radishes for extra freshness. Make a salad dressing with lemon, sea salt, and linseed oil and you will fall in love with this power salad after one bite.

A different concept is a quinoa, apple, and almond salad. This is a vegetable-free salad and perfect for those looking to try something new. Cooked quinoa is gluten-free and has enough protein, minerals, and fibers to replace rice. Apple will give this salad freshness, while almonds will add the sweetness and nuttiness. For dressing, simply spread some extra virgin olive oil and salt, since this salad speaks for itself.

2. Healthy turn on main dishes

There are many healthy versions of some of the most common meals, like burgers and tacos. If you are a burger lover, replace the meat with some of the vegetable variants like quinoa or mushrooms, and use whole-wheat bagels. Add vegetables like red onions, arugula, and avocado, and your detox burger is ready.

When it comes to tacos, you can also play with various vegetables. Use tortillas made of buckwheat and start filling them with some of the fresh vegetable mixes. Cucumbers and dill are a wonderful pair, perfect for those who want to add a little sweetness. Use cooked lentils since they are full of folate, copper, iron, protein and vitamin B6, to name a few. Add parsley for freshness and some olive oil to moisture the mix. Instead of cucumbers, you can use tomatoes and basil, or a mix of peppers.

Risotto is another excellent dish to play with in a healthy way. Red risotto is a mix of color and nutrients with just a pinch of parsley. Grate some beet and add to the cauliflower in the food processor. Cook the rice on low heat and with some vegetable broth, just as you would for usual risotto. However, instead of butter, add pumpkin seed oil. When the rice is cooked, add the beet and cauliflower mix, some parsley and dig in.

3. Satisfying smoothies and snacks

Smoothie can be a meal or a snack. It is a nutritional bomb which comes in various mixes and can include all the necessary ingredients to recover your system.

Green detox smoothie is full of potassium because it includes pineapple and banana. Add spinach for vitamins A and K, and some oat flakes for fiber. As the last ingredient, add a spoonful of protein powder and mix for a perfect breakfast meal.
