Celebrating Birthdays from a Distance

You can’t always be near your loved ones when it’s time to celebrate their birthday. You might live far apart or be unable to see them in person for another reason. Whatever the reason you can’t visit them, you can still help them to celebrate their birthday. You might be far away from them, but there are multiple ways you can let them know that you’re thinking of them. You can use technology and other means to create a birthday celebration that they’ll love, even though you’re not there with them. So how can you celebrate their birthday from a distance?

Give Them a Call

The simplest way to join in with birthday celebrations from a distance is to give the birthday person a call or get in touch in some other way. Speak to them on the phone or make a video call, or just contact them through social media to wish them a happy birthday. Spending the day receiving well wishes from friends and family will put a smile on most people’s faces. You might have time for a long chat or maybe just to say a quick ‘happy birthday’. Whether it’s a long conversation or a quick birthday greeting, they’ll be happy to hear from you.

Be Sure to Send a Gift

Everyone likes gifts on their birthday, and it’s one of the things that’s easy to do when you’re far away from someone. Of course, you can be a little limited on what you’re able to send them, but these days you can send almost anything to anyone. You can keep it classic with a birthday flower delivery or some chocolates, or you can think outside of the box to come up with a few different ideas. If you’re not sure what to get, look around for some inspiration. As well as buying gifts, there’s always the possibility of making something. Even cake might be able to survive going through the mail if you package it correctly.

Help to Throw a Party

You don’t have to be there for a party to help throw it. You could help with planning from a distance or you could send a box of party supplies to make celebrating easier. If you want to join in with the festivities, you could consider hosting a virtual birthday party. This will allow you to have some fun too, and stay in touch with anyone else who might be celebrating so you’re not out of the loop.

Create or Share Some Memories

Birthdays are fantastic times for memories. You can use it as an opportunity to share some memories or even create some new ones. Consider creating a scrapbook or digital album of some favorite photos or maybe a memorable trip that you took together. You could get some people together to create a birthday video, asking everyone to record a special birthday message so that you can put them all together.

You don’t need to be close to someone to celebrate their birthday. You can still send your best wishes even if you’re miles apart.
