FREE Places & Things To Do This Summer!

Free is always great, especially when you have kiddos at home who are constantly saying, “I’m bored!”. Here is a list of fun, free places & things I have come across to help you beat the boredom this summer AND maybe sneak in some learning.

Your local YMCA may have some free activities & programs available to you. Our local one has a free summer food program for children aged 18 and younger while school is out of session.

  • Earn a free book from Barnes & Noble with their summer reading program.
  • Traillink.com – Find local trails to go hiking, biking, etc.
  • Geocaching – A real-world treasure hunting outdoor game. Players try to locate hidden containers, called geocaches, using GPS-enabled devices such as your smartphone, and then share their experiences online.
  • Free activities for kids at Pottery Barn Kids such as character meetings & even a reading challenge!
  • LEGO Store Events – Find your local LEGO store to see what events are going on this Summer. Some events include building a mini-figure and taking it home!
  • Free Crafts For Kids every Saturday 11am-3pm at Lakeshore Learning Center (ages 3+)

FREE Movies

  • Just bring a book report with you to the select Bookworm Wednesdays movie and that’s your price of admission! Every Wednesday at 9 a.m. (10 a.m. at other locations)
  • Bow Tie Cinemas – On Tuesdays and Wednesdays they will be showing family favorites absolutely free. Movies start at 10 AM.

Happy Planning!

  • I’m always up for free. I love the Pottery Barn and Williams-Sonoma classes. Those are always lots of fun but I always end up buying something I don’t really need, especially at PBK.

  • Fun, fun, fun!! I love free! Thanks for sharing. The library is something we use every year and summer has great things. I wish we could focus a little more on family friendly, less-expensive activities, instead of all this commercialized stuff that kids think they “need”. Great post!
