If you haven’t heard of Goop then you don’t know what fun you are missing! If you have heard of it but haven’t tried it yet – what are you waiting for?!

You basically take about 1 C of corn starch & mix it with equal parts water. Sometimes I like to add a bit less water just so it’s not too liquidy. My kids added food coloring to theirs – just regular old food coloring, & no, it did not stain their hands while playing! What it transforms to is this weird liquid, yet solid, material!

This is an old activity that we did, in fact these pics were taken at our old house that we moved from in March of this year. I wish I would have captured it on video!

You can actually pick it up & it will drip down but just try to punch it while it’s in the bowl – it’s solid!!

Watch this video of Steve Spangler on the Ellen Show to see it in action:

We loved this experiment so much that they asked for it all the time! I ended up making separate ones for each of the 3 kids so they can mix & match their own colors & not have to squeeze together over 1 bowl. We were able to keep ours in covered containers for a few days at least. Just add a few drops of water, enough to liquefy it again since it tends to dry out just a tad, & it’s back to having messy fun!

Clean up is really easy & it washes right off. Again, the food coloring didn’t stain anyone or anything after being mixed in with the Goop.

Come to think of it..I just may buy a big box of cornstarch so we can do this again!

Have you ever made Goop before?

Spread the love

  • I am kind of embarrassed to admit that we haven’t done this one yet. With all of our messy science loving ways we have missed the boat. Time to remedy that. I see a messy science day very soon. =)
