K5 Learning Review – Reading and Math Enrichment
Have you heard of K5 Learning? I know it has been around a while and we were curious as to what it was all about. Read on to see our K5 Learning Review – Reading and Math Enrichment.
K5 Learning is really an online after school and summer study program for children in Kindergarten to grade 5. The program is designed to build reading, math and study skills and can help students achieve their best results. It allows children to work independently in a completely safe online environment.
Since we homeschool and math and reading seems to be our biggest problems between the 2 younger nerdlings, I figured we could give it a shot. I love the fact that they are able to take an assessment for each subject to see where they are and then the lessons are based around the results. This makes it much easier for me than trying to guess and choose the lessons myself, only to discover they are too hard or too easy for them. One thing I cannot stand is wasting so much time on a new program trying to get the right levels for them.
Student Assessments
Signing up for K5 is easy and you can have up to 4 student accounts under one parent account. You are able to go through there to set up the assessments for Math and Reading for each student if you like. You do not have to do them, but I recommend it so you can really see where they are. Each assessment can take up to 30 – 45 minutes to complete and parents will receive an email with the results. Student lessons will then automatically continue at the levels assessed. Parents also have the option to choose lessons manually for the students. If you feel like the assessment didn’t put them on the correct level, you can always talk to K5 and have their levels changed.

K5 Learning has 4 main areas: Math, Reading, Math Facts Drills, and Spelling
Spelling – adaptive instruction, automatic word generation, an optimized visual interface, and a 150,000+ word database.
Math Facts Drills – uses adaptive technology to help kids develop instant recall of basic addition, subtraction, multiplication and division facts. Progress on each and every math fact is monitored until mastery is obtained.
Reading – covers phonemic awareness, phonics, sight words, vocabulary and reading comprehension.
Math – covers numbers and operations, geometry, measurement (including time and money), algebraic thinking and data analysis.
Ready-Made Program for Busy Parents
Having homeschooled our nerdlings for at least 11 years so far, I know what it’s like to make our own lessons and curriculum. It takes a ton of time, research, printing, and results in a stressed out mama. Imagine what happens when the lessons do not work! I have used online curriculum, boxed curriculum, individual subject workbooks, videos, printables, you name it.
K5 is a ready-made program for busy parents since it is all right there online. Just set up the assessments and the students are ready to learn. I don’t know about you, but our nerdlings learn much better online and through videos than from simply reading from a book or paper. The K5 lessons are fun and entertaining as well as educational. This is exactly what kind of homeschool we like to have.
Free Worksheets for Kids
K5 Learning also offers free worksheets for Math, Reading, Grammar, Cursive, Flash Cards, and even for Pre-School and Kindergarten.

I’ve heard of K5 Learning but haven’t really checked it out. I need to however because I have a pre-schooler who will be heading to school soon. I like trying thing before buying so I will definitely check it out.
I am the same way and love that K5Learning offers a 2 week trial.
I love that K5Learning offers a free 14 day trial – that is a great way for parents to see how it works for them and their little ones before committing!
I love the free trial as well. You never know what will work for them until testing it out first!
This sounds great. Will have to tell some friends about this. Might work well for their son.
That would be great…I hope it does work for your friend’s son!
