Manic Monday 1/11/16

So, today I wake up to a freezing cold morning here in FL. We haven’t had a really cold night yet like last night and I didn’t even realize it was supposed to be. At 8 AM it was 37 degrees! We are still using our A/C so you can imagine my surprise. Apparently I was freezing in my sleep since I was freezing in my dream. Hubs turned the heat on when he woke up for work.

I rolled over in bed, grabbed my kindle and snuggled back down into my warm comforter. I wasn’t prepared for what I was about to read in my Facebook newsfeed – David Bowie dead at age 69 from cancer. WOW, the Goblin King is gone. I sat there for a few minutes in shock and then the emotions hit me. I didn’t expect myself to get so overwhelmed by his death – not that I’ve ever thought about it really. As a kid in the 80’s, I grew up with him as Jareth, the Goblin King. I listened to his music, even the teen got into some of his stuff. Funny, but one of her favorite songs to play when she was younger on Dance Dance Revolution was Let’s Dance by Bowie. When our son listens to him with me, he always asks why his stuff is so weird. “(laughs) Well, that’s just what he does.” RIP David Bowie.

Last Week –

Well, the first school week after winter break was already disrupted. Hubs still hasn’t gone back to work full time, which is normal this time of year, and so it’s really hard to concentrate on school/work while he is home.

Monday – Wednesday went great as for school.

Thursday, I woke up with a headache that was just lingering around. Later that morning, I fell asleep on my 8 year old’s bed while she was showing me something. I never do that. Noticed the fish tank was disgusting when I woke up in her room. Hubs decided to vacuum it out. Tried to move our one fish and sucker fish to a clean bowl of water while he did this BUT the sucker fish freaked out and jumped out of the net BEHIND the tank and between the wall. Needless to say, both the fish are now dead. They waited until we cleaned out the tank and refilled it. Hubs took our son to the store the next day to get a couple more little fish so the kids are just fine.

iCoffee sent me a brand new Opus machine to replace the old one since we still can’t figure out what went wrong with it. As soon as it arrived, I set it up and packed up the old one to be shipped back to them to figure it out.  Yayyyy for coffee!

Friday hubs was home so it was basically a lost day…HA!

This Week –

Besides the bad start to our Monday, I am sitting here waiting for Brighthouse to come check out our internet. It hasn’t been as fast as it should be and cuts out every so often. Definitely should not be doing that, especially after what they charge. I have a feeling it will be a wasted trip here since they have been here a few times before and can never figure it out.

Hubs went back to work today. Looks like he should get a good work week.

We need to get back on schedule with our homeschool lessons. We got behind before the break and this last week just pushed it further behind!

Saturday will hopefully be when my dad comes to visit with us to exchange gifts since we weren’t able to get together with them for Christmas. I swear the holidays seem to last for a month in this family!

I have 2 posts coming for you this week – Watergate Tarts recipe that I found and a review for a tea company. Stay tuned for those!
