Manic Monday – Last Year of Single Digits

Manic Monday - Last Year of Single Digits

This past week is when Kid Baker turned 9 years old. She is the baby of the family and I can’t believe that she is in her last year of single digits! How did that even happen?! We opted out of birthday parties this year for the kids which is a first for them. We decided that we wanted to do something special with each of them instead and they were all for it. The day of her birthday (Thursday, 1/28) daddy brought home a small chocolate, whipped frosting cake for her and she opened her gifts from us as well as a birthday card she received in the mail (with $20!) We haven’t been able to do anything yet with Kid Baker but she understands because of the whole work van/money situation. It will be soon but we still aren’t sure what we are going to do yet.

Kid Baker received some exciting gifts from us that added to her Skylanders collection. We got her 2 starter kits for Christmas and, besides cooking and baking, this is her obsession. I am pretty clueless when it comes to this stuff so you can only imagine how hard it was to shop for it while the only person who does know anything about it is the one you can’t ask! I ended up doing well and she was super excited!

Saturday I decided it was time to see a doctor for myself so I looked into Doctor On Demand. It wasn’t for anything major but I knew I needed an antibiotic (not that I’m a huge fan but nothing else was working). This was my first time using them and it was pretty neat actually! You basically video chat with a doctor and tell them your symptoms and they try their best to diagnose the problem. The price isn’t so bad ($40 for 15 minute video chat) compared to how much we would spend at a walk-in/urgent care clinic ($85-$100)! Plus, the doctor sent in a prescription to my pharmacy and hubs was able to pick it up soon after. Easy peasy! I would definitely use them again since it was so convenient and available 24/7. This post is not sponsored by them by the way but, after my first session, I was given a code to share so you can get your first Doctor on Demand session free! Use jess19 when you sign up.

This Week –

  • Work on decluttering routine.
  • Brainstorm some posts for the blog.
  • Get things in order for taxes.
  • The usual homeschool lessons – Time4Learning has added Science4Us for grades K-3 so Kid Baker has started using that instead of their regular science lessons last week. She loves it!

  • Happy 9th birthday to her. I am going to cherish the next couple of years because before I know it, Madison will be 10 also. Boy time sure does fly. BTW I’ve used Doctor on Demand before and actually loved the experience.

  • Happy birthday to Kid Baker! And wonderful that she is understanding of your situation. I think that says a lot about her character.
