Protect Sensitive Baby Skin With Dreft

Spring time is here and along with it comes the dreaded allergies. Thankfully, most of us in this house doesn’t have to suffer through with them, but the teen does horribly. She has always been the one with the weird allergy reactions since she was a baby – be it seasonal or skin. This is one of the reasons I have always trusted Dreft, the No. 1 baby laundry detergent choice of pediatricians.

Trusted for over 80 years, Dreft comes with a light, baby scent beloved by moms, and it remains safe and hypoallergenic for baby.

Although she is 15 now, I still have to watch what I use to wash her clothes. I once used those popular brands’ scent-booster beads on her clothes and it caused her to have horrible hives all over her body. She tends to get them very easily, most of the time we know where they came from after a bit of investigation, and other times they are a complete mystery.

When each of our nerdlings were little, we used Dreft on all of their baby clothes, blankets, towels, etc. to protect their sensitive skin from the harsher ingredients in regular detergents. At that time, there was only one Dreft option and it was mainly a powder detergent. Now, Dreft offers a complete line of products to suit your baby needs!

Protect Sensitive Baby Skin With Dreft

Dreft Stage 1: Newborn – specially made for newborn babies’ delicate skin and designed to be tough on stains while still gentle on baby’s skin.

Dreft Stage 2: Active Baby – specially designed with your developing baby, helps remove 99% of baby food stains and all the messes baby finds while crawling in grass and dirt.

Dreft Blissfuls In-Wash Scent Booster – add to any load of clothes to give a long lasting boost of the beloved Dreft baby scent without the harshness.

There are many more Dreft products available, such as laundry aids and household products.

I love the three Dreft products listed above but especially the scent booster! I couldn’t use them before from other companies because of the teen but now I can, thanks to Dreft! Plus, I can have that beautiful baby smell even though our nerdlings are far past that stage. I also have two young nephews and a niece who tend to get extreme eczema flare ups and benefit from the gentle formula of Dreft.

Dreft has a new partnership with Dr. Dyan Hes, Medical Director of Gramercy Pediatrics. She has recently been named a 2013 top doctor by NEW YORK magazine and sits on the board of the American Board of Obesity Medicine. Dr. Hes is double boarded in both pediatrics and obesity medicine.

Please join @Dreft on May 9th from 9-10 pm EST as they host a Twitter Party with pediatrician and mom, Dr. Dyan Hes (@gramercypeds). Dr. Hes will be sharing her tips to ensure your baby is protected and comfortable during the spring allergy season. You can RSVP here.

Some of Dr. Hes’s tips for protecting baby’s sensitive skin during Spring allergy season include:

Protect Problem Skin: Heat is a common trigger for eczema and as the weather warms up, there are a few things you can do to help prevent flare ups of such skin irritations. The sun is strongest between the hours of 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. so try to shield baby from direct sun exposure during those times. There are also apps available that can inform you of the hottest part of the day – which can be helpful for parents as they plan any outings with their little ones!

Choose the right fabrics and care for them properly: When it comes to fabrics, it’s extremely important to seek out gentle and hypoallergenic items to care for the items that touch baby’s sensitive skin. It’s also essential that fabrics be cared for properly. Wash baby’s items with a specially-formulated product such as Dreft, the #1 baby laundry detergent choice of pediatricians to be gentle and hypoallergenic on baby’s skin. Trusted for over 80 years, Dreft comes with a babyhood scent beloved by moms, and it remains safe and hypoallergenic for baby.

I had no idea about this product till your post. What a good idea to adjust the formulation so that the delicate skins of newborns or active babies would not be affected by the [presumed] concentrate. I also love the idea of a dedicated scent booster. On a side note, there’s nothing that quite compares to the smell of a newborn baby’s head / skin (you know what i mean ) 😉

I love Dreft but didn’t even realize that they also had scent boosters. It’s what all my kids used when they were babies. I still have it in my laundry room although I don’t use it as much anymore. I’ll have to try the scent booster.

It’s not just what you’re eating, some external factors such as smoking, stress, lack of sleep or excessive pollution can cause sensitive skin to flare up with rashes and may also cause even bigger skin problems.
