Sausage Gravy and Biscuits Casserole

Sausage Gravy and Biscuits Casserole

I absolutely love breakfast foods but I am not a morning person. This makes it hard for me to want to make a nice big breakfast on the weekends since I can’t be bothered before coffee. By the time I’m ready, everyone else has already eaten! Usually, we have “Brinner” – or breakfast for dinner or even lunch. If we want a big breakfast for breakfast, we usually look to the hubs for that. He doesn’t mind cooking and it’s nice to be able to be in the kitchen together.

The Sausage Gravy and Biscuits Casserole that I made was for a brunch gathering we had with our family friends from the UK when they came to FL. It was the first time I had ever made it and realized too late that I should have doubled up on the gravy! There is a lot of biscuits and it soaks up the gravy. Since we had to drive over an hour to get where we needed to, it was even worse. Everyone ate it and commented on how great it was….But, we were all in agreement over MORE GRAVY. (Plus, I like to smother everything in it. Southern gal here!)

I made a double batch of this breakfast casserole since there were nearly 20 of us eating it. I made it in my nice Viking 6.4 Qt. Casserole pan. You can make this in a small casserole dish or double it for a 9×13. This would also be delicious with a layer of scrambled eggs…ooo and cheese!

  • My husband would love this. He’s a gravy type of person. I’m don’t like gravy at all on any of my food so I don’t do it. The more the merrier for him and the kids. I think yours came out really good and if they loved it and you had no complaints, then it was a hit. 🙂

    • Hi Bonnie! Thanks so much for the question since I forgot to add that in the recipe! I would make this in a small casserole dish or you can double it for a 9×13. This would also be delicious with a layer of scrambled eggs. Let me know how it turns out 🙂

  • Sausage Gravy and Biscuits is something people up here just don’t eat. I didn’t find out it was even a thing until a few years ago. Of course I fell in love the first time I had it. I have only been able to get it when I travel out of this area, thanks for the recipe, this is easy enough that I can even make it 🙂

    • I never realized that! I know our UK friends love it and always order it when they visit here in FL. This is actually why I made this recipe when they had us over for brunch.
