The human body is quite adept at sensing when something is amiss. However, our minds are prone to file minor signs away in the corner of our minds. This is due to the fact that we either recognize the warning sign and self-diagnose it, or we simply do not want to find out what is causing us to feel the way we are feeling. Self-diagnosis is extremely risky, and it’s crucial to see your doctor regularly, especially if you’re not feeling well. We’ve put together a list of warning signs you should be on the lookout for and take action on right away.

Extreme and unintentional weight loss

Some of us might think that this kind of side effect is great! However, rapid weight loss, especially when it is not planned, can indicate underlying health issues that should be addressed rather than ignored. Excessive weight loss can be caused by a variety of medical conditions, including an overactive thyroid, diabetes, and even depression. If you are not overweight and have unintentionally lost more than 10% of your body weight in the recent six months (or fewer), it is a good idea to schedule an appointment with your primary care physician to see whether you have a medical condition that requires treatment.

Unusual mind fog

We all get confused from time to time, and this can be due to lack of sleep or even a challenging task that we’re struggling to grasp. However, if you’re experiencing this regularly, it’s certainly not normal. If you drink alcohol regularly, this could be a cause of this. Even if you don’t feel like you binge drink, being aware of what it’s doing to you could be beneficial. Your GP can help, but you may also want to consider a rehabilitation alcohol program to help get yourself back on track and clear that pesky mind fog – not to mention all of the other health benefits!

Heart palpitations

Heart flutters can appear out of nowhere, and while they are not necessarily harmful in most cases, it is crucial to pay close attention to your heart’s health at all times. It is, after all, the primary organ that keeps you alive. You may notice your heart fluttering when experiencing anxiety, which is a typical sensation to have but can be extremely worrisome to encounter. Even if you have no symptoms of anxiety, it may be a good idea to get a heart scan so that you and your doctor can ensure your heart is in optimal health.

Extreme mood swings

From adolescence, pregnancy, mental illness, and even menopause, mood swings can be triggered by a wide range of factors. However, it is important not to dismiss mood swings that are out of the ordinary because this might lead to undesirable thoughts and behaviors. Mental health issues are growing more prevalent as they become more widely recognized, and you should not feel obligated to hide how you’re feeling – no matter how ridiculous it may feel! Sometimes, your lifestyle could be the only thing that’s making your mental health worse. If you’ve been having moods that are out of the ordinary, talk to your doctor about it so you can figure out what’s going on.

Changes in bowel and bladder habits

Even though it’s uncomfortable, it’s critical to pay attention to your body’s signals. Toxins leave the body through the bladder and intestines, and occasionally changes in movement are the body’s method of getting rid of them. However, if the changes happen a lot and are very different from how you usually move, this could be a sign that you have an underlying problem, like diabetes or even bowel cancer. Even if it’s embarrassing, see your doctor to get an opinion and make sure nothing major is wrong.

Constantly being too warm

Finally, being overheated may simply be a result of not dressing appropriately for the weather. Having said that, if you’re constantly too hot and can’t seem to find the ideal temperature, this could be a symptom of internal problems. Menopause is the most common diagnosis, but if this isn’t the case, you may be overheating because you’re under a lot of stress. Caffeine consumption can also contribute significantly to feeling constantly hot, so try cutting it out to see if it helps ease the heat. If not, consult a doctor!

Our bodies are pretty good at notifying us when anything is wrong, so don’t hide symptoms or tell yourself it’s nothing! It’s always best to find out sooner rather than later, so don’t hesitate to consult your doctor!
