Top Ten Signs It’s Time For A New House

It often feels like the past couple of years have happened in a blur and because of the pandemic, it really has. The one good thing that’s come out of the pandemic has been the fact you have been able to spend more time at home. This has enabled you – and everyone else – to take a mental list of everything that they want to change. It’s not a surprise that so many people ended up spending more cash on DIY materials than at any other time. The costs of things went up but that didn’t stop people from renovating and changing up their spaces to make them better!

Perhaps one thing that the pandemic has taught you is that it’s time to move on? It’s not uncommon – when you spend that much time in your house, it makes sense that you would see the changes that you want to make, right? If you’re thinking of moving soon, there are plenty of great reasons that booking the movers is looking more and more appealing. We’ve put together the top ten sure-fire signs that it’s time for you to have a new house. This way, you can be very sure that you’re doing the right thing in making a change. Let’s take a look at what these are.

#1. You’re growing your family and you’ve no space left. If you have more children than you have space for, it’s a pretty good reason to book the movers and get the house packed up and ready to go. You might want an extra guest room, or you might just want the extra space in the back yard and you can’t extend that! Either way, it’s the right choice to make if you don’t have the space for the whole family anymore.

#2. You’re just ready for a change. If you’ve spent the pandemic sick of the four walls of your house and you are bored of looking at it all, then it’s a good thing that you’re considering moving! Maybe you want a newer, nicer neighborhood, or maybe you just want to be able to have a change of layout and you don’t have the patience to rip the whole thing down and start again. Moving to a new house could be the answer you didn’t know you needed!

#3. You’ve got a new job. What an excellent reason to start packing! You should consider that moving for your job is one of the most common reasons for relocation. A new city and a new job opportunity could just be the fresh start that you needed. It’s exciting to get a new job and even if it’s just twenty minutes drive further, then the best thing that you can do is make a point of moving on!

#4. You’re ready to break free of the rat race. Opposing the earlier point, what about if you’re ready to slow it down a little? City life is great for some, especially when you’re young and excited by the world. The call of the suburbs can, however, get in the way of that. You’ll find a lower cost of living and a slower pace here, all because you decided to back away from city life.

#5. You want to downsize. Selling up a bigger home and moving your things into a smaller space could be the answer if all the kids have flown the nest and have moved to their own homes. There is such a thing as too much space and when you realize that you have to clean those spaces, it’s enough to want to put up that ‘for sale’ sign.

#6. You want more security. If you are living in a rather undesirable area, the best thing that you can do is move to an area that offers you more safety than you have had previously. If you know your current location isn’t particularly safe, then relocation is a smart choice. You can remove yourself from a previously dangerous situation and ensure that you’re away from the things that are disrupting your peace. There isn’t anything wrong with doing this, by the way – you want to make sure that you feel good about the place in which you live, right?

#7. You are upgrading your relationship. One of the most common reasons to get a new house is either by yourself after a long relationship has broken down, or with a new person you have met and you want to share your space with them. No matter what you do, however, you need to ensure that you are making the right decision when you move into the new house. Some people have their new partner move in with them to ensure that they keep their place. Not you, though, you’re ready for change.

#8. You are traveling far too much for work. Commuting adds hours onto an already long working day. Instead of allowing the process of commuting to kill you, make a point of lessening your commute and slowing down your day. Your wellbeing and your health really do depend on it. A longer commute can make you feel sluggish and tired, and it’s a good reason to want to move to a new house because then you can follow an earlier point – moving for work. You shouldn’t kill yourself for a job!

#9. Your financial situation has changed. Whether you have come into a flush of money or you are running out of cash, a change in your finances is going to be a big deal and it could change the place in which you live. If you have to downsize, see it as a step back before you spring forward. It won’t seem so upsetting if you view it in a whole new light.

#10. You need to be closer to family. If right now you are living away from your family, one of the nicest things that you can do for yourself is to move closer to them. They’ll be so happy that you’ve moved closer to being with them that it makes it worth it.
