How To Keep Your Home Clean As A Busy Parent

As a busy parent, keeping your home clean and tidy can feel like an impossible task. After all, you already have enough on your plate each day without having to worry about how much cleaning you’ve got to do.

With that in mind, here are some top tips for keeping your home clean as a busy parent.

Bring in the experts

While you’ll be able to keep on top of the majority of home cleaning tasks independently, there are some cases in which calling in the experts is necessary. For example, if your carpet is looking a little worse for wear, then you should reach out to companies that offer professional carpet cleaning services. This can help to remove years of ground-in dirt and stains, leaving your carpet looking as though it were newly installed.

Print out chore charts

Chore charts and checklists are a great way to stay on top of household cleaning tasks, especially as they allow you to get the whole family involved. This means that you no longer have to do all of the cleaning yourself, while also encouraging your children to be a little bit more responsible.

Put things away as soon as you’re done with them

Cleaning up clutter can be incredibly time-consuming. As such, getting into the habit of putting things away as soon as you’re done using them is a real game-changer. This is also a great habit to demonstrate to your children, as it will encourage them to become as organized as possible, while also keeping their rooms neat and tidy.

Spend ten minutes cleaning each evening

Spending as little as ten minutes each night cleaning can help keep your home looking its best. Choose one room to focus on each evening, set a time, and get cleaning. You would be surprised by how much of a difference this can make over time. It also means that you have less to do when you decide to conduct a deep clean. You could turn this into a competition by getting the whole family involved and seeing who can clean their chosen room the fastest!

Remember, your home isn’t a show home

Many people feel pressure when it comes to keeping their home in a certain condition. While wanting the space to be clean and tidy is one thing, it is important to remember that you’re not living in a show home. This means that your home doesn’t need to look perfect!

Invest in quality cleaning supplies

Investing in quality cleaning supplies will take your cleaning efforts to the next level. If you are trying to save money, you can make effective cleaning products at home, using ingredients such as lemon juice, vinegar, and warm water.

Final thoughts

Keeping your home clean can feel like an impossible task, but there are plenty of ways to make it a little easier and less time-consuming. This includes calling in expert help when needed, and investing in high-quality cleaning supplies.

  1. I try to clean little bit by little bit per day. That way I’m not too overwhelmed. And yes, my home will never be a show home. It’s very much lived in.

    1. That’s such a smart way to do it – little by little keeps things manageable. And you’re right, show homes aren’t real life anyway. A lived-in home is the best kind!

  2. Great post! I’m a bit of a clean freak myself, so I’m always tidying up. I live by the rule: if you move something, put it back right after you’re done. I also do daily spot cleaning to keep my home feeling fresh and neat.
