When you are a busy person running around tending to everything that falls under your purview, some things will inevitably fall through the cracks. Unfortunately, those things tend to be your needs. If you have neglected your well-being and begin to notice that something is a little “off,” it is time to begin caring for your health.

Before diving in, it is important to note that this content does not constitute medical advice. Always consult your licensed healthcare provider for more information.

If you have reached a certain decade in life or you have been asking others to repeat themselves more than you did in the past, it is time to see a hearing professional for a hearing exam. Living with poor hearing, a ringing in your ears, an unbalanced feeling, or anything else that concerns you is not the way to live your best life. Schedule an appointment with an audiologist to have your hearing assessed and determine whether you will benefit from hearing aids and what the underlying causes may be.

You probably already know that you should see your healthcare provider for an annual exam every year – it is in the name, after all. If you are off schedule, there could be any number of underlying issues that may be affecting how you feel. Your practitioner will conduct a thorough external exam, any examinations specific to your gender and age, run blood tests, and recommend vaccinations. Based on their findings, they may recommend further care or assessments.

Whether you work outside of your home in a professional capacity, are a stay-at-home parent, or any combination thereof, you are undoubtedly in charge of a lot. With the constant on-the-go culture, you are probably burning the proverbial candle at both ends and in dire need of a break. Give yourself one. Take some time off from work or a break from home. Consider a short weekend away by yourself, with your partner, or with some close friends. Alternatively, work out an arrangement with your partner to take care of the kids and responsibilities while you relax, rest, and recoup in the quiet of your own home.

No is a complete sentence. It is a small word. It is a powerful word. Saying it should be easy, and sometimes, it is. And yet, in many instances, you feel immense guilt when you even think of saying no. Take your power and your time back by relearning how to use this word when you need to. When someone asks you to help yet again, permit yourself to inform them that you have too much on your plate. If a friend invites you to yet another barbecue and your weekend is already full, you can politely decline. Saying this word gives you some of your time and energy back so you can focus on yourself and everything else that is important in your life.

This is a gentle, practical reminder that feeling off is often your body asking for attention, not panic. Small steps in care can truly reset everything.

  6. My husband could really do with a hearing test. I know it isn’t selective hearing that he has unlike the kids!!! He always asks me to repeat things especially when watching tv which can be frustrating.

Great advice, totally agree with you. Prioritizing rest, proper hydration, and nutritious meals is so essential when feeling rundown! I agree, listening to the body early prevents minor fatigue from turning into illness.
