About Me

Hi and welcome to my little slice of the interweb! My name is Jess, the nerd mom behind Daily Deals from a Nerd Mom.

I am a homeschooling mom of three (1 in high school, 1 graduated, and 1 in college), wife to my high school sweetheart, Whovian, & all-around nerd. Our oldest has graduated from homeschooling & has journeyed into college. I write about life, family/kids, homeschooling, product reviews, giveaways, recipes, tutorials, beauty tips, fashion, and deals.

I started my first blog, Benoit Academy, as a way to show my friends and family our homeschool life. Many people had what seemed like a million questions about what/how we do it so I thought this was the easiest way to show it. It was also sort of a journal for myself. I had no idea what I was doing so I was basically writing it like I was sending someone that I knew an email. I eventually started ‘meeting’ other homeschooling blogging mamas online and was already a member of some homeschool Facebook groups.

I learned that many people are lost when it comes to starting to homeschool and many are looking for free and cheap ways to do it. This led me to sharing neat homeschooling resources that I had found during my Pinterest-addicted days that were free or pretty dang close. My most popular post on Benoit Academy was the FREE Printable Planners, Calendars, & Organizers roundup post that I did.

Daily Deals from a Nerd Mom came to be when I realized that I wanted to write about things that weren’t exactly a fit for my homeschool readers. It was a way to share deals and freebies with people as well as product reviews, giveaways, & just anything about us that wasn’t homeschool related. This became my main blog and I quickly realized how hard it was to juggle two blogs at the same time! Daily Deals From A Nerd Mom is also my way to make some extra money for our family so it takes up most of my time, besides homeschooling of course. A mom wears many, many hats!

DDFANM eventually veered away from sharing as many deals anymore. I was killing myself by trying to keep up with daily deals and wasn’t really a couponer. I’ve actually contemplated changing the name of DDFANM but can’t think of what to change it to since I really do not want to lose the Nerd Mom part.

Now that you have seen a snippet of what we are about, please do not hesitate to leave a comment below and ask me anything. I love connecting with my readers!

I am a homeschooling dad that has written a couple of Christian Fiction novels. I would be happy to distribute some free copies in exchange for honest reviews.
