Build up trust

When it comes to a healthy relationship then trust is seen to be one of the main components for it. However it is harder than you think to build and maintain trust in a relationship, especially if one of the parties in the relationship has past experiences that would affect them trusting someone, this can make it hard for them and also put pressure on a relationship so discussing it and building up that trust is very important.

Make sure to communicate if things get hard

Difficult and sensitive things can be hard to talk about but it is very important to have a healthy relationship to talk about these things. If you do not address issues in a relationship no matter how hard and you just ignore them it can fester and lead to more issues further down the line and make it harder to work through. Make sure to talk about difficult and hard things when they come up and do not bottle it up so you can get through them but make sure to remain nice and respectful when doing so and do not go to a full-blown argument as this will not help things be resolved. No relationship is going to be smooth sailing and easy. There will be low times and hard times but it is how you deal with those which define how you will last and how healthy the relationship will be.

Make your partner aware of your wants and needs

Different people will respond differently to different situations and when it comes to relationships you need to understand each other and know what they like and how to react to them in certain situations. Talking about how you want to be treated and what you want and need in the relationship is a great way to keep the relationship open and make sure that you each know how to react to each other in certain situations as you move through the relationship. For example, if you were to come home and say you had a tough day you may want to sit and talk about it but your partner may think you want time to yourself, these conflicting thoughts are why discussing things like this are so important.

Have fun and stay intimate

Healthy relationships can remain strong when you both have fun together and remain intimate, it can be hard to feel loved or like you are happy with each other if you are not intimate at least sometimes. For a lot of people, they will lose intimacy over years but it is important to have it in some form, even if that is cuddling, kissing, sex or just having a hug each day. You can have fun together which will help this, have date nights, and do fun activities together this can help you stay close and intimate. If intimacy is a struggle then discuss and see what the problem is and if sex is an issue then maybe look into and try to work at any issues that are preventing you from having fun and staying intimate. You should also try new things together whether behind closed doors or by just going out and trying a new hobby or sport, doing this together gives you something to connect over and have fun with at the same time.

If you are in a new relationship or you have been together for years and you want to make sure that your relationship can remain healthy and strong then these few tips should be able to give you some ideas of what you can do to make sure your relationship is healthy.
