The Walking Dead is one of my favorite shows and one that I will NOT miss an episode of. I have watched it since day one and do not see any stopping anytime soon. Since the second half of Season 8 is about to premiere, I thought I would put together some of The Walking Dead game night ideas to help celebrate. I have included games based on the TV show as well as the comic books.
About the show
The Walking Dead is an American post-apocalyptic horror television series based on the comic book series of the same name by Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore, and Charlie Adlard. The show’s lead character, sheriff’s deputy Rick Grimes, awakens from a coma discovering a world overrun by zombies, commonly referred to as “walkers”. Grimes reunites with his family and becomes the leader of a group he forms with other survivors. Together they struggle to survive and adapt in a post-apocalyptic world filled with walkers and opposing groups of survivors, who are often more dangerous than the walkers themselves.
Walking Dead The Best Defense Board Game – a cooperative board game in which players take on the roles of Rick, Glenn, Daryl, Michonne and other characters. The Survivors must defend four key locations from Walkers – the Farm, the Prison, the Town and the Highway – in order to stay alive. The game board is assembled at random for each game, providing for variability in the locations; a 25-card resource deck – containing either Equipment, Allies, Food or Ammunition – is placed at random on one of the locations. Unlike most cooperative games, The Walking Dead Board Game: The Best Defense includes a leadership role that player can take for one or more rounds – or even the entire game if others allow him to do so. Each player character has a unique leadership ability that provides a bonus while that character is in charge.
Monopoly: The Walking Dead (Survival Edition) – delivers classic Monopoly wheeling and dealing game play. Players vie for and must then fortify, the prime real estate and resources that will sustain their lives. There’s only one victor that will outlast the others — whether living or undead — when all is said and done. This completely customized game features 6 collectible Walking Dead-themed tokens, optional speed play, and a fight to the finish Ages 13+; 2-6 players.
The Walking Dead Trivial Pursuit Game – Test your knowledge of Seasons 1 -7 with 600 questions.
The Walking Dead Risk: Survival Edition – a fun, new twist on classic Risk game play with a brand new map set in the southeast region of the US where players battle and scavenge for their very lives. Contending for survival at every turn, gamers must not only fend off attacks from the living who compete for precious, limited resources upon which their survival depends, but they also must maintain their self-preservation from the unrelenting hordes of the undead that would feast upon them. A new deck of “Supply Cards” add strategy, fun, and flavor to this classic tabletop game. Gamers can expect a fast-paced game of attrition and survival, where the last man standing wins Ages 13+; 3-5 players.
The Walking Dead TV Board Game – Be the first to reach the Center for Disease Control! Take on the role of Rick, Andrea, or one of the other hapless survivors and scrounge for sweet weapons like a Shotgun or Crossbow. Keep your eyes open for new allies, but watch your back! When supplies start running low, it’s every man for himself. If you can make it back to camp with enough gear to defend yourself and those you still care for, you win!
Walking Dead All Out War (Core Set) – contains everything two players need to get right into the action, including fully-assembled, highly-detailed plastic miniatures, dice, tokens, quick-start rules, and terrain including burnt-out cars and barricades. All miniature supplied assembled but unpainted. For 1 to 2 players
Expansions & Boosters:
- The Walking Dead All Out War: Days Gone Bye (Expansion Pack)- a narrative expansion to the Walking Dead: All Out War, containing a series of scenarios to recreate the early exploits of the Atlanta Group, from Rick’s first forays into Atlanta, to the Walker attack on the camp, to his dramatic showdown with Shane. Requires The Walking Dead: All Out War Miniatures Game Core Set to play.
- The Walking Dead All Out War: Scenery Booster – contains 3D plastic scenery to add an extra level of realism to your games.
These pieces are designed to directly replace the cardboard cars and barricades from the core game, as well as replacing the supply counters with 3D resource caches such as piles of food crates and abandoned luggage. Requires The Walking Dead: All Out War Miniatures Game Core Set to play.
- The Walking Dead All Out War: Shane Booster – contains 3 plastic miniatures: Shane Survivor, Reggie Survivor, and Shane Walker.
Also includes character cards and equipment cards. Miniatures supplied assembled and unpainted. Requires The Walking Dead: All out War Core Set to play.

Walking Dead Trivia Game – Based on the hit AMC TV show. Over 400 questions will challenge even the savviest survivors. Players start as Humans, but a few wrong answers and you’ll be a Walker! For 2 – 6 players.
The Walking Dead Clue Game – Alexandria’s been attacked! Play as characters like Rick, Carol, Negan, and Daryl to solve the mystery. Murder weapons include Katana, revolver, and Lucille.

With ToysRUs closing it seems sad that such boardgames aren’t as popular as they once were, but nice to see they still exist. This Walking Dead looks good.
From them I prefer Monopoly best. Overall a great collection you added this post. Thanks for your activity.
