Wedding Dresses from Around the World
Even if you try, you can’t capture the flavors of across the globe on a single sheet of paper, however, here is the list of wedding dresses from around the world with the help of some great wedding dress designers.
These are not the designs covering the whole wide world with all the 196 countries and numerous amounts of cultures. But, these are certainly showing the essence of some of it. The main idea of this write up is to take you to the fairytale world where you can see what all exists in parallel to your world. It’s true every Bride and Groom is different but over here you can see the difference based on the country they live in.
Here are the names of seven countries along with the wedding dress styles they follow:
China
The cultures are a little bit different in the country regarding the bride’s wear, however, the color stays same which is red for both the parts and brides and grooms. The brides from the northern area wear a one-piece frock known as Qi Pao, where as the brides from southern region wear a two-piece dress known as Qun Gua. The grooms wear a robe, which has intricate embroidery in gold or silver.

Thailand
Thailand is more into its history hence the brides and grooms wear the traditional Thai dresses, which are based on any one of the different periods of Thai History. However, the grooms have the option to wear something different like two or three-piece suit with a tie as well. The wedding dresses in Thailand are extremely gorgeous and people mostly prefer the traditional Thai dresses as their wedding trousseau.

Turkmenistan
89% of the people in the country follows Islam and go with the traditions of the same. In this country, the group is again in the two-piece suit along with a tie where the bride wears the traditional red dress with a veil in front to keep all the evil eyes away from her. Most of the wedding dress designers say that these dresses require an ethnic touch to enhance their real beauty.

Russia
Even though Russia is a multi-ethnic and faith nation, still 75% of the residents follow Christianity. Hence a gorgeous white gown with a perfect veil is for the Brides and a handsome suit with a bow or a tie is for the grooms.

Sri Lanka
Here the bride wears a Sari of any vibrant color beautifully draped on the body along with loads of gold jewelry and a hair ornament too, where on the other hand grooms wear the traditional Sri Lankan dress called as Mul Anduma. Numerous wedding dress designers have claimed that the groom’s dress takes almost 30 minutes to drape properly.

Japan
In Japan, if both the bride and groom choose a Shinto ceremony to get married then they have to wear traditional kimonos. The bride also wears a headdress, which is called as tsunokakushi.

India
India has 28 states and every state has its own tradition and style of dressing the bride as well as groom. However, the most common wedding dress for the bride here is the red sari or lehenga (designer skirt) and koti with loads of jewels where the man wears the traditional dhoti kurta or shervani. Now day’s things are changing and grooms wear three or two-piece suits. Most of the wedding dress designers stay in awe after checking the dresses here.

Australia
The wedding dresses in Australia are mostly white for brides. The brides wear a flowing wedding gown in white with a netted veil. The dress is adorned with laces, pearls, and various other styles to give it an elegant look. The brides experiment with various styles to get an ideal design and a perfectly fitting wedding gown. The grooms wear a black two-piece or a three-piece tuxedo with a bow or a tie.
Choosing the right wedding dresses designers and getting help from them regarding the cuts, colors, and styles of the dresses is an important task. Customization of the wedding dress can now be done very easily and people now also experiment with colors and cuts of the dresses.

I made my own wedding dress. The top and bottom were cream with a dark purple sash at the middle. I used an upcycled lace curtain on the skirt.

I like that you mentioned Qi Pao and Qun Gua, I truly love the glamorous Chines clothing designs. A slight addition of golden sheets to a red dress makes me feel like a bride is an Empress. My fiancee and I are looking for possible Custom formal gowns, we could use some help from a wedding expert for some tips.
Only the Indian bridal dress is looking heavier and expensive than others. Also, the pieces of jewelry on Sri Lanka and Russian brides make them attractive.
