For their emotional development

One of the biggest benefits of dogs with children is that they are extremely useful to develop important emotions such as empathy and compassion. Dogs are able to tune into energies and our emotions very easily, and if your child is exposed to that from a young age, they are going to learn to do the same thing and they’re going to learn to treat the dog with respect.

For exercise

It’s not just your dog that you have to ensure gets adequate exercise, but your children, too. If your children have a dog, they will be coming with you on walks and during exercise times for your dog. This will get them out into nature, have a great run around, and even give them a chance to play with the dog outside.

For their confidence

Did you know that there are children out there who have dogs specifically for anxiety? Even if your children aren’t particularly anxious, there are plenty of studies to show that the relationship between child and dog has an impact on certain emotions and one of them is in dissipating feelings of anxiety. Your child will feel much more confident when they have a dog by their side.

For making friends

If you’ve ever been to the park and seen any dog owners out there, they’re all very social and chatting together. Every time somebody has a dog and he’s walking in public there’s always a chance to socially interact. If you are looking to meet new people, you might find that your children would benefit from having a dog so that they can feel more confident in their social interactions.

Before you adopt or buy a dog, it’s good to do some research on the varying breeds out there. You want to make sure that you bring a dog into the home that is looking to live with children, can manage to live with children, and your children can manage to live with a dog. It’s a big responsibility and you all must be on board.
